What is Eyelid Aesthetics?
As you age, your eyelids spread and the muscles that support them weaken. Excess fat can collect above and below the eyelids, causing sagging of the eyebrows, upper eyelids and bags under the eyes.
In addition to making you look older, severe sagging skin around your eyes can affect your side vision (peripheral vision), especially the upper and outer parts of your field of vision. Blepharoplasty can reduce or eliminate vision problems. It makes your eyes look younger and more open.
What Happens During Eyelid Surgery?
Blepharoplasty can be performed on the upper eyelids, lower eyelids or both at the same time.
During surgery, surgeons make incisions in the natural folds of the eyelid, in the folds of the upper eyelid, just below the eyelashes or behind the lower eyelid. This way, the incisions are not noticeable after healing.
The surgeon makes markings on the eyelid to identify where excess skin and fat deposits need to be removed. The excess tissues are removed. Careful suturing is used to smooth and reconstruct the areas around the eyebrows and eyelids.
After Eyelid Treatment
It may take approximately 1-3 months for the scars to disappear. Do not expose the eyelid skin to excessive sunlight as it is sensitive.
Blepharoplasty allows you to have a more vibrant, youthful appearance and higher self-esteem. Many people are satisfied with these results of the surgery.
